Celebrities Speak Out in Solidarity with Palestinians Amid Escalating Israel-Gaza Conflict

The ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza has led to a surge of public statements from celebrities, with some expressing their support for Palestinians as the situation escalates.

The conflict has garnered global attention, prompting celebrities to share their thoughts on social media.

Former adult film star Mia Khalifa became a focal point after her social media posts led to her firing from a role at Red Light Holland. Khalifa’s posts expressed support for Palestinians, but she clarified that her intention was to support freedom fighters rather than incite violence.

Soccer star Mohamed Elneny, who plays for Arsenal, displayed his solidarity with Palestine by sharing photos featuring the Palestinian flag. Meanwhile, model Gigi Hadid and her sister Bella Hadid used Instagram to raise awareness about the situation, emphasizing the need for resolution and expressing their pain for the affected families.

Singer Dua Lipa, who was previously dating one of the Hadid sisters’ brothers, shared the #SaveSheikhJarrah hashtag on her Instagram stories. Lipa defended her stance, stating her support for oppressed people and her rejection of racism.

In 2014, former One Direction member Zayn Malik posted the hashtag “#FreePalestine” on social media, indicating his support for Palestinians. Rihanna and basketball player Dwight Howard also used the same hashtag in the past, although their posts were later deleted.

Additionally, actress Emma Watson faced criticism after sharing a post expressing solidarity with Palestinians in January 2022. The post, emphasizing the importance of meaningful solidarity, drew accusations of antisemitism from some Israeli officials. Watson was supported by fellow celebrities, including Susan Sarandon, Mark Ruffalo, Gael García Bernal, and Viggo Mortensen, who defended her stance on human rights for Palestinians under international law.
