Beloved Actress Suzanne Somers Passes Away at 76
Suzanne Somers, the beloved actress renowned for her roles in iconic TV comedies such as “Three’s Company” and “Step by Step,” has sadly passed away at the age of 76. The news of her demise was confirmed by her longtime publicist, R. Couri Hay, who revealed that Somers peacefully departed in the early morning hours of October 15th at her home. Somers, a resilient soul, had battled an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years.

Born Suzanne Marie Mahoney on October 16, 1946, in San Bruno, California, Somers initially ventured into acting in the late ’60s and early ’70s, securing small roles in notable films like “Bullitt” (1968) alongside Steve McQueen and Clint Eastwood’s “Magnum Force” (1973). However, it was her appearance in the George Lucas-directed “American Graffiti” in 1973 that left a lasting impression on audiences, where she played the role of “Blonde in T-Bird,” a character silently conveying love to star Richard Dreyfuss.
Somers’ breakthrough came when she portrayed Chrissy Snow, the endearing character in the ABC sitcom “Three’s Company.” The show, which aired from 1977 to 1984, catapulted Somers to fame and established her as a household name. Despite her immense popularity, Somers faced challenges during her tenure on the show, notably a salary dispute that led to her departure in 1981.
In the subsequent years, Somers faced difficulties in the industry but made a triumphant return, starring in the sitcom “Step by Step” alongside Patrick Duffy. She also found success as a commercial spokesperson for the Thighmaster, a fitness product she endorsed, leading to significant sales and recognition in the marketing world.
