Additionally, she admits to struggling with obsessive-compulsive tendencies related to picking her skin, a habit she worked hard to overcome. The toll on her self-esteem was significant, leaving her feeling insecure.
She recalls a particularly challenging moment when her skin was at its worst while filming a crucial interview for her family’s Hulu series. “My face was just bright red. It was too painful to put makeup on, but I had to do this big interview that I couldn’t miss,” she shares. “I watched the episode back and thought, ‘There’s no way this is going on TV.’”
But Charli D’Amelio’s story takes a positive turn. Today, as a Dancing with the Stars winner and a prominent influencer, she has embraced her imperfections. She’s determined to share her skin struggles openly to inspire others, especially the large teenage audience that looks up to her.
Partnering with CeraVe, D’Amelio recently participated in the brand’s Acne Academy event in New York City on September 13. Her goal is to challenge the stigma surrounding acne, emphasizing the importance of addressing it with empathy and understanding. She believes that acknowledging acne as a natural part of life is key to empowering those who face it.
D’Amelio’s journey to self-acceptance has been a journey of personal growth. “Now when I get a pimple, it really isn’t the end of the world,” she declares.
At 19 years old, D’Amelio is still exploring what works best for her skin. She has learned to prioritize skincare, particularly the importance of moisturizing. Her go-to product is CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Furthermore, she has adopted a healthier approach to managing pimples, choosing to allow them to heal naturally rather than popping them immediately.
For advice and product recommendations, D’Amelio turns to her mother, Heidi, with whom she shares a skincare bond. “We have our calls and go through our new products and we send each other all the links, which is really fun,” D’Amelio shares, highlighting the importance of their shared experiences and learning in this journey of self-discovery and self-care.
In Charli D’Amelio’s story, the power lies not only in her journey but in her determination to inspire others to embrace their own skin, fostering a sense of unity and support among all who face the challenges of acne.
